BP SCIRM
Block 204 of the UKCS, North Sea
360-550m
Subsea Construction, Inspection, Repair and Maintenance Services (SCIRM), and Well Stimulation
Normand Subsea, Siem Spearfish, Seven Falcon, Greenwell Base
Discovered in 1990, Foinaven was the first UK deepwater field developed in the Atlantic margin in water depths of 550 metres. Schiehallion followed three years later and both remain significant assets.
Recent redevelopment and expansion of existing Drill Centres under the Q204 project has taken place, as well as the addition of the Alligin Drill Centre.
Operating in up to 5m seas, the Normand Subsea delivers year round diverless IRM services as well as light construction, commissioning and well intervention works to BP’s North Sea and West of Shetland assets.
The contract covers the delivery of ROV supported engineering services to BP, utilising the Normand Subsea, which is permanently assigned to the contract. A wide range of light construction tasks are carried out on the subsea infrastructure of the Foinaven, Schiehallion, Loyal and Clair fields, such as:
In October 2012, BP Exploration Operating Company Limited awarded Subsea 7 an extension to the contract, up to the end of 2017. Using the same project and operations teams that delivered the original contract, this was later renewed in 2019 under a new contract.
In 2017, as part of the Q204 redevelopment project, a new FPSO – the Glen Lyon – was installed into the field to replace the existing Schiehallion FPSO. The SCIRM project team and Normand Subsea carried out a large number and variety of installation and commissioning support operations to facilitate this replacement operation.
Throughout 2019 and beyond the Normand Subsea will support the expansion of the Schiehallion Drill Centres, the hook-up and commissioning of the newly developed Alligin Drill Centre, as well as continuing with the standard IRM tasks.
